Along the Way: Journey Alone, Journey Together

  • Communtiy Christian Church, Jefferson City 409 Ellis Blvd Jefferson City, MO 65101 (map)

All are welcome to join the Disciples Women for this wonderful day of learning featuring Sue and Murray Frick. The day’s activities will begin with an opening worship.

Then Sue will present “Along the Way”:

The Christian life is not about a destination in this world, getting there and finding a place to stop. Rather it is a journey, a pilgrimage of growth, discovery and, yes, struggles. Faith and spiritual growth happen during the journey. Exploring our Christian journey is about being open to what happens "along the way". Sue Frick celebrated her 60th birthday by undertaking the Camino de Santiago (otherwise known as the Compostella de Santiago), a 500 mile, full-pack pilgrimage across northern Spain. Sue chose to walk solo, but other pilgrims along the Way helped her discover/re-discover what it means to be a Christian Pilgrim there.

We’ll share lunch together and then Murray will present “Discerning Mission & Ministry”:

Each and every mission and ministry has its own unique lifecycle. What's the difference between "growing"", "sustaining", "past its prime"? What parts have run their course? Where should we be placing our attention and our efforts? As not every congregation is the same, not every call to mission and ministry is the same. Learning how to evaluate what we are doing is a critical part of discerning what God is calling us to do and determining "what comes next" in the life of the congregation.

We’ll end with one-on-one discussions with the presenters and a closing communion service.

$20 registration fee includes lunch. Register online by November 1 (extended to November 3!). See/print/post flyer. This is an excellent continuing education opportunity for Mid-America clergy.
